Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered their sixth loss in IPL 2025 after suffering a 7-wicket defeat at the hands of MI. Pat Cummins and co. are currently on the verge of being eliminated from the tournament and are placed 9th on the standings. SRH coach Daniel Vettori reckoned that the team needed to draw some inspiration from teams like RCB and MI who have bounced back strongly despite having poor starts to the season in the past editions.

“Need to improve on all three facets”

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Vettori pointed out that SRH have been unable to put up a clinical performance so far barring in the two games that they managed to win. The Kiwi coach said that it was important for Cummins and co. to take some inspiration from RCB who managed to make it to the playoffs in IPL 2024 despite starting the season on a poor note.

“IPL is been going on for a long time. A lot of teams have found themselves in this situation. And there have been few teams who have been able to resurrect their season. You look back to RCB last year after a difficult start. (If) We can take some inspiration from a team like them,” Vettori said.

What happened in yesterday’s IPL match?

Heinrich Klaasen’s heroic 44-ball 71 and Abhinav Manohar’s 37-ball 43 helped Sunrisers Hyderabad post 143/8 from 35/5. SRH lost four wickets inside first five overs with their Top 4 falling like tenpins. But Klaasen and Manohar added 99-run stand to rescue SRH. 

In the end it was an easy chase for Mumbai, as they powered their way to a 7-wicket win. Rohit Sharma was the star of the chase as he scored 70 from 46, while Suryakumar Yadav made 40 from 19.
