Παρά τον εξαιρετικό σφαιριστή, ο Mohammed Siraj δεν ήταν τόσο αποτελεσματικός στο T20 και η GT θα έπρεπε να εξετάσει το ζήτημα της αντικατάστασής του στο XI.
Mohammed Siraj should have been spearheading a pace-bowling attack, given the talent he possesses. But then he finds out ways to be expensive in T20s, be it in IPL or T20Is, and is often over-shadowed by others. In the Indian side, either it is Jasprit Bumrah or Arshdeep Singh, even Mohammed Shami for that matter, and now in IPL 2025 for GT, it is Kagiso Rabada.
Mohammed Siraj’s Concerning Numbers in IPL
On Tuesday, in GT vs PBKS, Siraj was once again off colour and returned with figures of 0/54 in 4 overs. An economy of 13.50 is just unpardonable for the wealth of experience he has. But that has been a regular story in the IPL with him, where wickets are hard to come by, and runs are given in plenty.
In his IPL career the 31-year-old has played 94 matches and only picked up 93 wickets. Those have come at an average of over 30, and an economy rate of 8.70. What makes it worse is, playing for RCB last season in 14 matches, he picked up 15 wickets at an average of 33, at an economy rate of 9.18. So, one might really feel, that GT might have blundered in getting in 12.25 Cr.
GT Need to Consider Other Options
Although it has just been one match for GT, one might counter, but then he isn’t just that wicket-taking option that a team seeks. His overall strike-rate in IPL — 21.3 is alarming too. Bowlers like Harshal Patel, who sometimes struggle to get a chance in the playing XIs, do a much better job at taking wickets, and also containing runs.
DC’s Mohit Sharma has an IPL strike-rate of 17.2, while SRH’s Harshal is brilliant at 15.9. That said, it would be really tough for GT to overlook Mohammed Siraj completely, but they need to also give old-horse Ishant Sharma a chance to prove his worth, and give the former a run for his money.
