The India cricket team captain, Rohit Sharma, is ready to take Australia on. The Kangaroos have turned out to be the Men in Blue’s nemesis in ICC events over the last couple of years. In 2023 alone, the Aussies snatched two trophies from India’s grasp. They’ll have the opportunity to do it again in the ICC Champions Trophy first semifinal as well.

You’d think that Team India would be hesitant regarding the thought of facing Australia, but it couldn’t be farther away from the truth. Rohit Sharma openly stated that he’s looking forward to the clash that’ll happen on March 4 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Australia isn’t at their best. They don’t have their main pacers, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood. Aussies also don’t have Mitchell Marsh, who’s injured, and Marcus Stoinis, who retired just days before the ICC Champions Trophy kicked off. They have also lost Matthew Short to a quad injury sustained against Afghanistan on February 28.
“Critical to possibly win every game and do everything right in a short tournament. It’s important to correct mistakes quickly, and that’s where we know if your team is going up or going down. It will be a good game; Australia has a rich history of playing ICC tournaments well, but it is about us and what we want to do well on that particular day. It will be a great contest; looking forward to that,” Rohit Sharma said in the post-match interview.
The Varun Chakaravarthy conundrum
The Indian captain was asked about Varun Chakaravarthy’s performance. Rohit admitted that picking three spinners from the four now would be tough as the mystery spinner took a five-wicket haul against New Zealand. But a problem like that is good to have.
“We haven’t thought much about the next game, but it’s a good headache to have (Varun Chakaravarthy),” the Indian captain added.
