Knowing that they can’t compete with the IPL, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) knows they’ll have to go the extra mile to entice foreign stars. The PCB has therefore decided to increase the salary cap for marquee players.
The top cricketers can fetch themselves somewhere between $350,000 to $400,000 (Rs 2.9 to 3.8 crore). This isn’t anywhere close to what the biggest IPL names get, but it is a start and a step in the right direction. Reports have even suggested that PSL franchises have always offered huge sums to several players, and English players are even ready to decline their county contracts in order to play in the PSL.
