Ο Jasprite Bomra επέστρεψε στο IPL 2025 μετά από μια μακρά απόλυση, δείχνοντας έλεγχο και ρυθμό, και ο Gavascar υποστήριξε την επιστροφή του.
Mumbai Indians’ ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah has returned to IPL 2025 after battling injuries for 4 months and staying away from competitive cricket. The bowler is expected to turn the fortunes around for the struggling Mumbai Indians, who are currently sitting at the 8th position on the table.
Bumrah’s first match in IPL 2025
Jasprit Bumrah’s first IPL 2025 match didn’t go as expected against Royal Challengers Bangalore, as he went wicketless in his 4 overs. However, he was very economical, conceding only 7.25 runs per over, which was better than most other bowlers. Ex-Indian cricketer and now broadcaster Sunil Gavaskar commented on Bumrah’s form and provided insights into what to expect from him in the future. He also shared thoughts on the struggling Rohit Sharma, who has been poor with the bat so far this season.
Gavaskar on Bumrah
Sunil Gavaskar believes that the best of Bumrah is yet to come, and he is likely to hit speeds of 150 km/h. He said, “The first and foremost thing was seeing him come in steaming and bowling at his usual pace — over 140 km/h. I believe with a few more games under his belt, he’ll likely hit 150 km/h as he gains more confidence in his back and feels secure enough to bowl at full tilt. In T20s, where you’re not bowling long spells, it’s a lot easier for bowlers to stay sharp and bowl at full speed. That’s exactly what we saw with Bumrah.”

Gavaskar on Rohit Sharma
Sunil Gavaskar also believes that the struggling Rohit Sharma might regain form soon and achieve a solid knock. He just needs to work on his shot selection and choosing the right risks. “Over the next couple of games, they’ll be hoping for a solid knock. Even if he doesn’t get a big score immediately, if he can bat through the power-play into the 8th or 9th over and score a steady 30–40, that will help build confidence. But when he gets out in the powerplay, it hurts — whether it’s for Mumbai Indians, India, or any team he’s playing for. He has so much to contribute. I believe his shot selection needs a bit of tempering. You have to be aggressive and score as much as possible in the first six overs, but choosing the right risks is key. If he finds that balance, he’ll be back to scoring big runs again,” he stated.
