Ο Rishabh Pant έπαιξε 117 αγώνες και ήταν μόνο η 5η φορά που άνοιξε τον Entoning. Το τελευταίο πράγμα που άνοιξε στο IPL μέχρι σήμερα ήταν το 2016.
Rishabh Pant’s horrid run of form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season continues. The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) showed immense faith in the wicketkeeper batter, paying him a record-breaking Rs 27 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction. They also named him the LSG captain, with Pant taking over from KL Rahul.
Rishabh Pant the batter continues to fail
But these moves seem to be backfiring as of now. After 6 matches, Pant has scored just 40 runs, and his strike rate isn’t even 100. Although he finally crossed the 20-run mark against the Gujarat Titans, things didn’t go that well for him overall. Forced to open the batting alongside Aiden Markram due to Mitchell Marsh being unavailable, Pant started the way he’s looked the entire IPL 2025 season, rusty.
Rishabh Pant in IPL 2025
Vs Delhi Capitals: 0 (6)
Vs Sunrisers Hyderabad: 15 (15)
Vs Punjab Kings: 2 (5)
Vs Mumbai Indians: 2 (6)
Vs Kolkata Knight Riders: Did not bat
Vs Gujarat Titans: 21 (18)
Overall: 40 (50) (Average: 8 and Strike Rate: 80)

He couldn’t seem to get any timing on the ball. His first boundary came off a very risky flick that just went past wicketkeeper Jos Buttler’s gloves. Bowler Mohammed Siraj wasn’t pleased. And he was fuming after a couple of minutes, as on the very next ball, Buttler dropped him. It was a full ball on leg stump, and Pant got a thick edge on it, but Jos couldn’t hold on to it.
In the next few overs, he nudged around. Picked a few boundaries here and there but never really got into the groove. In the end, Prasidh Krishna got him. Pant charged at the ball that was around hip-high and got an edge that flew to third man. His poor run of form continues.
Pant yet to face full on criticism
Never seems to be going Pant’s way. He tried his hand at opening after 9 years in the IPL, as he wasn’t doing well at number four. But even that hasn’t gone in his favour. The wicketkeeper and LSG would hope his form comes back sooner rather than later. He’s escaping criticism as his team has done well, with 3 wins in 5 matches, but the knives will be out soon if his performance remains the same.
