Once again, a former Pakistani cricketer has tried to hog the limelight. Rashid Latif, who had led the team too briefly, has vouched, that he would “reveal everything” about the match fixing scandal, in his biographical account. He stated, that he has already started working on the same. “I can assure you I will reveal everything as it happened and the book will open everyone’s eyes,” Latif told Geo TV.
Latif, like before, again opened up on how players were throwing away matches. Things went worse for the Pakistani side, as a bunch of cricketers were linked to match-fixing, and then a judicial enquiry was finally setup. A lot of details about the scandal are also present in the Justice Qayyum report.
Cricketers like Ata ur Rehman, Danish Kaneria, Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Asif, Sharjeel Khan, Salim Malik, and others been allegedly involved, or been spoken about, in matters related to match-fixing. In fact, name of another former Pakistani player, legendary Wasim Akram also came up, but no real action was taken against him, but just an enquiry took place.
Having said that, there have been multiple instances when ex-PAK cricketers have threatened to come out with the truth, but then nothing really seems to have happened till now. In fact, Amir, despite being punished, and being banned for a number of years, was brought back into the system, and eventually the team.
