After Pakistan crashed out of the Champions Trophy in the first round itself, there were reports as usual, that interim coach Aaqib Javed was to blame for, and would be sacked eventually. But make no mistake, that has only happened due to time constraints between the series and the Champions Trophy, a PCB official said. “The PCB meanwhile has started the process of finding a new head coach for the national team and due process would be followed,” he said.

The PCB also confirmed that Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub were not available for selection. “Fakhar suffered a left lower intercostal muscle sprain during Pakistan’s ICC Champions Trophy opener against New Zealand, while Saim is recovering from a right ankle fracture sustained on the first day of the Cape Town Test against South Africa in January,” the board said.
