The India Cricket Team handed Pakistan a humiliating 6-wicket loss in Dubai in the ICC Champions Trophy. Former Pakistani pacer Wasim Akram was not at all happy with his side’s performance. He criticized the side for not being up to the mark. He proposed the side of making changes, bringing in young players, and start building the side for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Wasim Akram was not at all happy with the wide balls bowled in the game. It was India that started the game on the wrong note. Mohammed Shami began his spell with 5 wide balls on the very first over of the game. Eventually after the end of the innings, India had bowled 9 wide balls. But Pakistan was a step further. The side went on to bowl 11 wide balls, helping India chase down the low target with relative ease.
Wasim Akram extremely disappointed with Pakistani bowlers
“Enough is enough. We have lost by wide balls over the last couple of years. Now it is time to take bold steps. What would that be? Bring young cricketers for fairness of cricket in white-ball format. If needed make 5- changes to the team, lose the next 6 games. But start building the team for the 2026 T20 World Cup from now,” Wasim Akram said on Sports Central.
The Pakistan Cricket Team has now been handed back-to-back losses in the ICC Champions Trophy. And this means that their chance of making it into the top 4 is almost 0. Akram was extremely angry given how his side has bowled and has even blamed the captain and board for the wrong team selection.
“A lot of chances were given, the players were made stars. The bowlers have taken 24 wickets in 5 games at an average of 60. 14 teams including Oman and USA who played International cricket this year, Pakistan has the second-lowest bowling average in the list. Ask the chief and the selectors what is happening with the team. The captain is the leader of the ship and is also to be blamed for the wrong team selection,” Akram concluded.
