Th international Cricket Council (ICC) has finally approved the hybrid model for Champions Trophy 2025. The global body had delayed the announcement of the schedule for the marquee event as the stalemate between India and Pakistan over the former’s refusal to travel to the neighbouring country. Officials from both BCCI and PCB were involved in discussions to break the deadlock recently in Dubai.
ICC okays hybrid model for Champions Trophy
As per sports Tak, the ICC has approved a hybrid model for the tournament, with the two locations being Pakistan and Dubai. The report claims that the decision was arrived at after both the BCCI and PCB agreed on the suggestion. Further, India and Pakistan have reportedly agreed “in principle” that the latter will not travel to India for their league game in T20 World Cup 2026. The IND vs PAK clash will take place in Colombo, Sri Lanka instead.

Additionally, Pakistan will reportedly get to host an ICC Women’s tournament after 2027. The Pakistan Cricket Board had stationed two officials in Dubai to hold talks with ICC and BCCI over Champions Trophy deadlock. Ex-PCB Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer and COO Sumair Syed were reportedly asked to stay in Dubai to hold talks with the stakeholders to resolve the deadlock. The announcement about the schedule for the tournament was expected to be made this week as discussions were moving in a “positive direction”.
